Scenes from the Landscape of Loneliness
My work is influenced by the pictoralists of the early 20th century. The series, "Scenes from the Landscape of Loneliness" explores the isolation and alienation of man in the urban environment.
In my photographs, I am not attempting for razor sharpness or a portrayal of a specific time or place. Rather, I am seeking to document my emotions and mood about the subject. Reality is not my objective but rather the photographic gesture of the time and place.
Using pinhole cameras and the gum bichromate process renders the images in a soft atmospheric aesthetic which allows me to take the image another layer away from a traditional photographic image and into the realm of photographic gesture.
